Iraq: CFWIJ urges Iraqi authorities to help journalist Soad Alnagafy

October 31, Baghdad, Iraq — Journalist Soad Alnagafy posted a video calling upon the Iraqi authorities to evacuate her from India to Iraq as she is diagnosed with Covid-19. The Coalition For Women In Journalism implores the Iraqi authorities to help the journalist as soon as possible.

Journalist Soad Alnagafy posted a video on social media platforms urging the Iraqi authorities to help her go back to Iraq from India. Soad explained that she was in India on a therapeutic trip to treat a backbone injury. The doctors diagnosed her with Covid-19. The journalist was begging the Iraqi authorities to help her go back home and be with her family in such hard times. Soad is a journalist and writes op-eds for Kitabat.

Covid-19 breakout has impacted the lives of journalists in many aspects starting from limiting their travel and movement reaching injuries and death cases.

The Coalition For Women In Journalism sympathize with the journalist and hope for urgent action from the Iraqi authorities to bring the journalist back home and provide her with the needed medical care.
