Nigeria: Nigerian Association of Women Journalists concerned over rape cases

May 14, 2020--In a statement issued on May 14th, NWAOJ expressed concern over rape cases in Bayelsa State including sexual assault of minors.

Chairperson Maria Olodi-Osumah condemned the acts and called on relevant government agencies to take necessary steps.

“NAWOJ will not hesitate to take appropriate actions against persons found wanting irrespective of political, religious affiliations, ethnic or social status.” said Osumah regarding the issue.

CFWIJ condemns acts of sexual violence and highlights the importance of reporting such to relevant authorities without hesitation.
