United States: CBS reporter Nina Kapur deceased tragically and untimely, CFWIJ mourns with her family and loved ones
/July 20, 2020, New York, United States -- The Coalition For Women In Journalism is devastated over the news of Nina Kapur’s passing.
Nina Kapur, 26, was from Newton, Pennsylvania and a graduate from Syracuse University.
Before joining CBS2 New York, she worked in Maryland for MCVM-TV and in Norwalk, Connecticut for News 12. Nina was recently responsible for covering the election campaigns in the tri-state area.
On July 18, Nina was on the passenger seat of a rented motorbike, authorities said that the operator of the motorbike “swerved for an unknown reason” launching Kapur and the man onto the street.
A spokesperson for the New York Police Department confirmed to PEOPLE that officers responded to a 911 call reporting a motor vehicle collision in the Greenpoint neighborhood around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Nina’s colleagues reminisced about her kind demeanor, passion for storytelling and active personality on Twitter.
This is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to write. I love you so much @ninakapur1 and my heart is aching without you. I know your light will never leave me. I will always be grateful for your love and friendship. pic.twitter.com/CuLuF0x4vs

.@NinaKapur was vivacious and had big plans for the future. Funny, fashionable, and often the first person to like a picture on social media, I still remember her debut @news12ct. So hard to comprehend her shocking death. https://t.co/SVmHzfkQH9

Nina was perfect. So beautiful. So vibrant. She inspired me by being an excellent journalist and by making big moves at such a young age. She didn’t take no for an answer and lived life to the fullest. pic.twitter.com/ZyZMVQKLlK
