United States: CBS reporter Nina Kapur deceased tragically and untimely, CFWIJ mourns with her family and loved ones

July 20, 2020, New York, United States -- The Coalition For Women In Journalism is devastated over the news of Nina Kapur’s passing.

Nina Kapur, 26, was from Newton, Pennsylvania and a graduate from Syracuse University.

Before joining CBS2 New York, she worked in Maryland for MCVM-TV and in Norwalk, Connecticut for News 12. Nina was recently responsible for covering the election campaigns in the tri-state area.

On July 18, Nina was on the passenger seat of a rented motorbike, authorities said that the operator of the motorbike “swerved for an unknown reason” launching Kapur and the man onto the street.

A spokesperson for the New York Police Department confirmed to PEOPLE that officers responded to a 911 call reporting a motor vehicle collision in the Greenpoint neighborhood around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Nina’s colleagues reminisced about her kind demeanor, passion for storytelling and active personality on Twitter.
